This was the first home we bought together. For years we rented, we focused on putting the kids through school and enjoying life. Owning a place was not an option, but it didn’t matter – we were happy. We looked for a place in the Bridal Path for a few years. I went to auctions and looked for properties in receivership or something that was palatial enough for our large family but also a good investment (not to mention something we could afford at the time). The house we ended up purchasing was "off-market" (meaning not listed). We were on the radar and had an opportunity to purchase the house at land value.
